The Timeless Tradition of Venetian Textiles
Thanks to its strategic position between East and West, Venice established early and privileged ties with Byzantium, already renowned for its luxurious textiles. These exchanges deeply influenced the city’s own craft, and by the 11th century, Venice had begun producing its own fine fabrics, quickly gaining recognition as a major center of textile manufacturing.
During the Renaissance, Venetian looms produced some of Europe’s most coveted velvets, brocades, and damasks - destined for royal courts and noble palaces - and helped define an era of elegance.
This exceptional craft, passed down through generations, continues to flourish in the ateliers of a few historic manufacturers, who still produce luxurious fabrics using traditional techniques, textiles that I carefully choose and reinterpret to create distinctive pieces of Venetian home décor.
